PCB banned Mohammed Yousuf and Younis Khan from playing for Pakistan in any form of cricket. Shoaib Malik and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan have been banned for 1 year. Malik and Naved were also fined two million rupees ($23,500). T20 captain Shahid Afridi, wicket keeper Kamran Akmal and his brother Umar Akmal were also fined by PCB. Afridi was fined 3 million rupees ($35,200) for ball tampering during the one-day series against Australia. Kamran Akmal was handed a fine of three million rupees ($35,200) and Umar Akmal, younger brother of Kamran, was fined two million rupees ($23,500). Kamran was dropped by the board but insisted publicly he would be selected in the run-up to the third Test in Australia. His younger brother Umar was alleged to have faked an injury to not play the Test in protest, though he did eventually play. Both have been put under probation for six months. The PCB on Wednesday implemented the recommendations of the six men inquiry committee formed to evaluate Pakistan’s dismal performance against Australia in December and January. The committee was led by Wasim Bari. Five members of the committee were PCB members and the only neutral member of the committee was Wasim Akram who did not take part in the inquiry as he was not available. The reasons behind banning Younis Khan and Mohammed Yousuf were not disclosed, but PCB said it would be making the inquiry committee’s report public in few days.
