SriLanka V India 2nd Test 2009-10 Day 3 Updates – Kanpur
  • Nov 26th, 09

SriLanka V India 2nd Test 2009-10 Day 3 Updates – Kanpur. Srilankan batsmen will start the day today with confidence, thanks to the 5 wicket haul by Herath and the batting friendly behavior of the pitch. India will be relying in their spinners to make Srilanka bat once again before India does.

Srilanka 1st Innings

  • 66/1 in 24.0 overs (NT Paranavitana 30, KC Sangakkara 30)
  • Sreesanth to Paranavitana, OUT, gone! Poking at one that moved away from him after pitching, short of a good length, tried to push at it off the back foot, a little away from his body, gets a thick outside edge to Dhoni who takes a sharp catch, diving low to his left
  • Sreesanth to Sangakkara, OUT, bowled’im! Dragged it on, full and wide, reached for a flowing drive through the covers but ended up getting an inside edge onto his stumps
  • Khan to DPMD Jayawardene, 1 run, angling it towards leg and middle, closes the face on it to get it behind square for a single, brings up the 100
  • Sreesanth to Samaraweera, OUT, bowled him! Sreesanth hits the good length outside off again, Samaraweera attempts to cut but the line is too close to him, he gets a thick bottom edge on to his stumps. 111/4 (37.2 ov); Partnership: 10 runs, 3.4 overs, RR: 2.72
  • Harbhajan Singh to Mathews, OUT, gone! Harbhajan held it back just a hint, got it to pitch on a good length outside off, got the right amount of turn but Mathews played for more as he lunged forward to defend, played inside the line, missed and it clipped the bails on its way to the keeper. Sri Lanka 134/5
  • Lunch – Day 3.  Sri Lanka 138/5 (49.0 ov). Sri Lanka trail by 504 runs with 5 wickets remaining in the 2nd innings
  • Sreesanth to HAPW Jayawardene, OUT, Sreesanth gets a wicket with possibly the worst ball of the over, shortish and wide, Prasanna goes after it, nicks it to Dhoni. Sri Lanka 194/6
  • Ojha to DPMD Jayawardene, OUT, just as I say that, Mahela is gone, he looks to loft Ojha over mid-on, doesn’t connect as well as he would have liked after charging down the track, gifts a catch to Tendulkar. Sri Lanka 204/7
  • Sreesanth to Herath, OUT, what a change, gets Herath first ball, length ball angles across the batsman and takes out offstump. Sri Lanka 216/8
  • Ojha to Muralitharan, OUT, Murali is gone, lbw, hit low in front of middle, Hawk-Eye shows the ball would have gone on to hit the middle of middle. Sri Lanka 219/9
  • Harbhajan Singh to Welegedara, OUT, again the change of angle works, pitching on middle and off, turns back into the batsman, struck on the pads. Sri Lanka 229/10
  • Sri Lanka trail by 413 runs
  • Sri Lanka forced to follow on
  • Srilanka 1st Innings

  • Sreesanth to Dilshan, OUT, fantastic delivery to get rid of Dilshan, Sreesanth gets that outswinger going, Dilshan prods at it, ends in an outside edge, easy for Dhoni
  • Sehwag to Paranavitana, OUT, Paranavitana is gone lbw, the umpires have been in top form today, the ball came into the batsman, hits him on the back pad just before he gets bat on it, that ball was going on to hit middle and off, Sehwag strikes in his first over.
  • Ojha to Sangakkara, OUT, oh my goodness, a run-out when you are 400 behind on the first innings? Mahela is gone, Sangakkara was well down the track as he pushed the ball to straightish midwicket, Sangakkara was immediately away for the run, Mahela wasn’t, Yuvraj didn’t have to go too far to field that, lobs the ball to Dhoni, Mahela had no chance
  • Harbhajan Singh to Sangakkara, OUT, This match is heading to an early finish, Sangakkara is gone now, not much footwork as he looks to dab ab outside off ball, gets an inside-edge, goes onto hit offstump
  • Stumps – Day 3, Sri Lanka 2nd Innings 57/4 (23.0 ov). Sri Lanka trail by 356 runs with 6 wickets remaining
