Virender Sehwag would consider himself unlucky to miss the world record by 7 runs. He added only 9 runs to his overnight score of 284 and was dismissed by Murali after making 293 runs. Everyone at the stadium or watching at home was waiting to see him hit that magical triple ton. But seems that it was not the day. He started the day with caution, same as he did yesterday. It looked as if he wanted to settle down before starting to play the big shots. He started sensibly. Murali finally flighted a delivery and pitched it a bit up. That did the trick for Sri Lanka. Sehwag looped that one back to Murali, who fumbled a bit but finally stuck to the catch o see the back of Sehwag. It would have been Sehwag’s 3rd triple century. Currently he jointly tops the list of players with most number of triple centuries in test cricket. Sir Don Bradman and Brian Lara shares this record with him. He was dismissed in 4th over of the day. he is 4th batsman to be dismissed in 290’s. Martin Crowe(New Zealand), Sir Viv Richards(West indies) and Ramnaresh Sarwan(West Indies) were the 3 other players to get out in 290’s.
