 New Franchises for cash rich Indian Premier League(IPL) has been announced. The cities which got the new franchises are Kochi(Cochin) and Pune. Sahara Adventure Sports Ltd was the highest bidder. Sahara placed a bif of $370 million(1700 crore Rupees) for Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Pune. Sahara chose Pune as their home city after winning the bid. Rendezvous Sports World Limited(also known as kerala consortium) were the 2nd highest bidder. They won the bid for Kochi. They paced a bid of $333.33(1533.32 crore Rupees) million for the franchises. Announcing the bid results here, IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi said the Sahara Group had the option of choosing from Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Pune as their home. Sahara picked Pune as it host city. Vivek Venugopal of Rendezvous Sports(owner of Kochi IPL team) said: “We are the second highest bidder. We are open to suggestion. Ours is a consortium of number of investors but the names are confidential. I will let you know at the right time.”

The word “Messianic Pioneers” makes a reference to Pune’s strong spiritual connection with our Messiah, namely, Shri Shri Sainath Maharaj Shirdi Sai Babaji, who tried to show us the way by teaching us Shraddha and Saburi. (Patience and Virtue). On a personal note, Pune is also where my grandparents met another holistically great spiritual soul, namely, Shri Banda Nawaz Baji Babaji. So, in my eyes, Pune abounds with great spiritual Pioneers, and Shri Sainath Maharaj is not only a prophet, but a Messiah also; blazing a trail for us to follow. I thought of Pune Trailblazers as a name, but it would not do justice to the great effort made by and credit given to these wise sages, whose teachings transcend time.
So, please consider the name “Pune Messianic Pioneers” for the IPL franchise.
