Final day of the Ahemdabad test went in the batsmen’s favor too. Batsmen once again dominated the bowlers on this pitch which didn’t help the bowlers at all (if we keep the 1st hours of the match apart when India lost their 4 top order batsmen). Srilankan bowlers tried hard to get wickets and win the match for the team but there was nothing in the pitch for bowlers. Ravi Shashtri was quoted saying “This pitch can stay the same for another 3 days”. This gives and idea about the pitch and its behavior. Even the bowler of kinds of Mutthiah Muralitharan didn’t get a wicket. India lost only 2 wickets today. One wicket in the morning session and 2nd wicket during the second session. Third session of the day was wicketless. Sachin tendulkar scored yet another century during third session. Match would have ended 9 overs earlier but was extended just to see Sachin get to his century. Tendulkar completed 30000 runs during his innings of 100(not out). Gautam Gambhir also scored a century before giving away his wicket to Rangana Herath. Gambhir scored 114 runs. Mahela Jayawardhane was named man of the match for his brilliant double hundred. India 2nd innings 412/4 (129 ov), Sachin Tendulkar 100*(298), Gautam Gambhir 114(337), VVS Laxman 51*(202) | Herath 40-6-97-2 India(Ind) vs Sri Lanka(SL), 1st Test 2009, Day 5, Highlights, – 1
