It was almost a perfect test match for India. Everything went well from India’s prospective. First, India managed to get a huge score on the board and then dismissed Sri Lanka’s batsmen twice under that score. This was India’s 100 test win and Indian players did a great job to make this one a real memorable one.

India batted well for their score of 642 in first innings. Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid hit tons in this innings. VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh scored half centuries. Indian batsmen scored these runs at a very fast pace. At the end of the innings, India’s run rate was 4.17 which is very good on context of Test Cricket. Indian Batsmen never looked back after the opening partnership of 233 runs between Sehwag and Gambhir. The only good news for Srilanka in this innings was the 5 wicket haul by Rangana Herath. Sri Lankan seamers didn’t leave any impressions in the match. All the wickets of innings went to spinners and none to the seamers.

Sri Lankan batsmen didn’t play well either. Sri Lanka lost 1st wicket in 1st innings on 1st ball itself. Zaheer Khan was the one to dismiss Dilshan at that occasion. It was more about S Sreesanth though in Sri Lanka’s 1st innings. Sreesanth took 5 wickets in his come back match. He returned into team after a long time. His performance in this innings made him get the Man of The Match title. Pragyan Ojha made his debut in this match. He managed to get 2 wickets in 1st innings. Harbhajan Singh got 2 wickets too whereas Zaheer Khan got 1 wicket in the innings. Mahela Jayawardene was the top scorer for Sri Lanka who made 47 runs.

Story of 2nd innings was even worst for Sri Lanka. They lost their top 4 batsmen under a sore of 100. But Samaraweera showed some form in 2nd innings. He showed, how he got those big scores in Test cricket. he lived up to the expectations but ran out of partners at the end. Samaraweera was not out at 78. The next highest score from Sri Lanka was by Muralitharan and Prasanna Jayawardene. They made 29 runs each. Mendis spent a long time at the crease and delayed India’s win. But it was just a matter of time at that stage. Yuvraj Singh dismissed Mendis and Ojha wrapped things up in the very next over with the wicket of
Welegedara. Harbhajan Singh picked 3 wickets in this innings. Pragyan Ojha got 2 wickets again. Zaheer Khan, S Sreesanth, Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag got 1 wicket each.
