Lead by their batsmen, South Africa maintained the record of winning the match every time they win the toss. AB de Villiers hit a brilliant century. He hit 121 runs off 85 balls with 14 boundaries. it all started with the openers, Hashim Amla and Greame Smith. The opener had a century partnership and set the tone for South Africa. Partnership was broken when SA’s score was 107. Greame smith was dismissed after making 54 runs. Amla and AB then took the score past 200. Amla was dismissed after making 86 runs when the score was 201 runs. Alviro Peterson hit a half century too. He was not out at a score of 51 runs at the end of innings. South Africa made a score of 354/6 in their allotted 50 overs. Stuart Broad got 4 wickets for 71 runs. England kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They didn’t manage to get and big partnerships which caused them the match. The only noticeable partnerships were between Pietersen & Collingwood (84 runs) and Prior & Collingwood (64 runs). Collingwood was the sole warrior and made 86 runs off 82 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes. No other England batsmen managed to get a half century either. Wayne Parnell got 5 wickets. Morne Morkell and JP Duminy got 3 and 2 wickets respectively. England were all out in 41.3 overs at a score of 242. AB de Villiers was named Man of The Match for his brilliant century.
