First match, of the five match ODI series between England and South Africa, at Wanderers was abandoned because of heavy rain. Not even a single ball was bowled in the match.

It had been raining in Johannesburg since past 3-4 days and the trend continued on Friday too. Rain did stop for some time but the ground was so wet that no play was possible. None of the players from either teams showed up at the ground. Only Mickey Arthur and Andy Flower, Coaches of South Africa and England respectively, showed up at the ground. Match was called off two-and-a-half hours after the scheduled start when it became obvious that it would be impossible even to play a shortened(20 overs) game.

Next match of the series will be played on Sunday at Centurion. Forecast for the second match sounds good and match should take place if the forecasts for the day proves to be correct.
