Pune Gets an IPL Team
Sahara Adventure Sports Ltd was the highest bidder during the IPL’s auction for 2 new teams. Sahara group placed a bid of of $370 million(1700 crore Rupees). They placed their bid for 3 cirties i.e. Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Pune.
Being the highest bidder, they were asked to chose one city of the three they bid for. They chose Pune to be their home city. A proud moment for Pune.
Sahara’s bid for Pune(poona) was way better than what the Adani group ($315 million) or the Pune consortium ($261.3 million) had to offer.
From 2011, IPL will become a 10-team league featuring 94 games.
